Sensex trades lower, Nifty near 11,900

Benchmark indices were trading flat with a negative bias on Monday, with banking stocks being the top drags. The S&P BSE Sensex was down 30 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 40,420 levels. YES Bank (down 2%), and IndusInd Bank (down 1%) were the top laggards in the Sensex pack while Maruti Suzuki (up 2%) and Tata Steel (up 1%) were the top gainers. The broader Nifty50 index dipped 13 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 11,910 levels. The Nifty sectoral indices were trading largely in the red. Nifty Private Bank index was trading 0.5 per cent lower while Nifty Bank index slipped 0.4 per cent. On the other hand, both Nifty Metal and Nifty Auto indexes were down 0.6 per cent each. In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index slumped 43 points, or 0.3 per cent, and the S&P BSE SmallCap index was down 40 points, or 0.3 per cent.
