Sensex gains 200 pts, Nifty near 11,000

Benchmark indices are trading higher in Wednesday early morning session amid gains in Asian stocks after US President Donald Trump yesterday backed off his September 1 deadline for 10 per cent tariffs on remaining Chinese imports. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex climbed 87 points, or 0.24 per cent, to 37,045. Tata Steel, Hero MotoCorp, IndusInd Bank, Vedanta, and Reliance were the top gainers in Sensex pack. The broader Nifty50 index was up 50 points, or 0.46 per cent, to 10,976. The Nifty sectoral indices were trading largely in green. Nifty Metal and Nifty Realty indexes were both up over 1 per cent while Nifty Pharma was trading with an over 2 per cent cut. In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index was hovering around 13,431, up 68 points, or 0.5 per cent, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was ruling at 12,556, up 36 points, or 0.3 per cent.
